TLC Nursery & Greenhouses is
one of the largest nurseries in Oklahoma, with three large
retail stores and thousands of items in inventory.

TLC has a completely integrated system, with point-of-sale
cash registers integrated into the inventory system. The cash
registers use the "data driller," a small computer
keyboard whose keys change according to the category selected.
When a credit card is swiped, the computer automatically dials
the modem, the credit card is validated, and the receipt is
printed. The attached barcode gun makes checkout fast and
easy.
 "It's
a pretty easy system," says manager Rob Edge. "We've
got three locations in Oklahoma City, with all three using the
system, communicating constantly. It gathers all our reports
for bookkeeping, trucking, and inventory. And its sped up our
credit card processing twenty percent!"
"All the staff seem very comfortable with it. They
can customize the program when inventory changes. We've had a
huge Moonlight Madness sale for the last two years, and with
this system, the line has moved twice as fast."
"It's very customer-oriented. The customer gives us
a phone number as an ID. The computer keeps a buying history,
so if a customer has a return, but has lost the receipt, we
still have an easily accessible record of it. Also, say a
customer buys a ficus plant. The cash register will actually
print out care instructions on the receipt."

Since 1947 Hendershot has manufactured and repaired oil well

Hendershot employees 40 workers, with three locations in
Oklahoma. A Rueb-Group client for nearly 15 years, Hendershot began
with a similar system on a mainframe before moving to RealWorld's
PC-based system.
"RealWorld fits our business very well,' according to
Henry Johnson. "It would work if we were 10 to 20 times larger,
too. We find it to be real reliable."
